Photography One of Charmaine's passions is gardening and flower photography. These are all video stills that have been de-interlaced. When you zoom in on the beauty of a flower one can experience a deep sense of oneness with nature, some might call it a transcendental, zen-like experience. Click on the enlarged versions and see if you can experience a deep sense of peace also. Let go of your thoughts, relax and just meditate on the beauty of the flower for a minute or two. Meditation is a great way to eliminate stress and an help you learn to focus on enjoying the present moment. (I've named these photos myself, they aren't the official names of the flowers.) | ||

"Symphony" This is one of my favorite flower photos. I shot this yellow rose in my rose garden. I like the imperfections in the ruffled edges and the asymetrical placement. I find it rather mesmerizing. View Enlargement |

"Unbridled Blue" I love blue hydrangeas, the intense colors remind me of a rushing waterfall. The profusion of their flowers imparts a sense of enthusiasm and unbridled joy de vrie. Almost as if life itself was expressing its own joy. View Enlargement |

|
"Moulin Rouge" This is another one of my favorites, the tight orange ruffles on this remind me of the dancers ruffled skirts in the moulin rouge. View Enlargement |

|
"Water Ballet" Water Lillies are such amazing flowers and they come in so many colors and varieties. I love the contrast betwen the spikey flower petals and the rounded lilly pads as well as the reflection in the deep blue water. View Enlargement |

"Purple Passion" Purple is my favorite color and so I couldn't resist capturing this lovely clemetis I saw while at the Oregon Garden, which is a wonderful place to enjoy flowers if you haven't discovered it yet. View Enlargement |

"Banana Frappe" This lovely Iris is officially called "Banana Frappe" which I also enjoyed viewing while at the Oregon Garden. I like the way the sunlight was highlighting its profusion of ruffles. View Enlargement |

"Glowing Wonder" This is a stunning rose and looks like it was lighted from within the way the sunlight was striking it. I like the varied shades of pink and orange and the perfect shape of the flower which makes you want to cup it in your hands and take in a big gulp of its spicy, citris scent. View Enlargement |

Purple Iris Another beautiful example of our Creator's talent. I love the delicate shades of lavendar, the brilliant purple and the complimentary touches of yellow. Marvelous. Van Gogh liked Iris' also so I guess I'm in good company. View Enlargement |

|
"Zen Moment" Water Lillies are often a motif associated with Zen philosophy and this brilliant yellow flower is certainly showing off and vying for inclusion into transendental bliss. View Enlargement |
| |
|
"Bridal Gown" This is another one of my favs as it reminds me of a ruffled bridal gown. The white and pale pink shades evoke a sense of innocence, modesty and purity. View Enlargement |
| |
|
"Ballerinas Backstage" I captured these pink roses in my garden after a rainstorm weighed them down. They remind me of ballerinas waiting with nervous anticipation to go onstage. They have a very romantic air to them as they almost seem to be blushing. View Enlargement |

Spiderwort This is a very interesting flower. Nature has such a wide range of design and there is always a purpose behind everything...which makes one tend to believe that there is inteligent design in the universe, and does remind one that in good design "form always follows function". |
"Enlightened Petunias" Although a common flower, I was struck by the way the light was striking them almost as though divine light was being shed upon them and imparting the widsom of the Creator. Almost as if He was saying that even that which is common is special to Him. View Enlargement |
| |
|
"Raggedy Ann" These daisies have a rather scrappy look to them almost as if they are young girls who forgot to brush their hair before going outdoors to play. Their informal yet cheery appearance seem to convey a sense of optimisim and their sunny centers make one feel happy just looking at them. View Enlargement |

|
"True Love" There isn't a more appropriate symbol of love than a red rose. This one seems to say "kiss me" and with the heady fragance wafting from it, one can't help but be smitten by its beguiling petals. View Enlargement |
| |
|
"Grand Dame" I found these masses of pink and orange roses immensely appealing. The attitude reminds me of a elegantly dressed victorian woman sighing with self-content and assurance of her beauty. View Enlargement |
| |
|
"Vintage White Roses" The fragile beauty of these antique white roses growing in masses was quite compelling. Old roses typically have far fewer petals but there is sensible, simple elegance in their large buttery petals that remind one of starched white collars. View Enlargement |
| |
|
"Peach Flamingo" The profuse ruffles of this peach-colored iris beckoned me to zoom in and experience its intoxicating allure. The attitude of its ruffles convey movement not unlike that of an impassioned flamingo dancer. I like extreme close-ups of subjects as you can often discover unqiue abstract shapes by eliminating other distracting detail. View Enlargement |
| |
|
"Introspection" This pretty rose covered in rain drops seems to be lit from within, almost as if it is thinknig deeply about past loves and reliving those moments and shedding a tear or two whilst so doing. View Enlargement |
